The Roots

One of the few hip-hop acts to feature a live band as part of their permanent line-up, The Roots are something of an enigma on the music world - indie kids and underground rap-heads love them equally, and they're not averse to mainstream success, either, as shown by singles like You Got Me, The Seed 2.0, and Break You Off. They've begun to attract attention and respect amongst rock fans, too, after Ben Kenney's move to replace Dirk Lance in Incubus, and a handful of triumphant appearances at summer festivals. edit info
