The Leaving Trains were an underground alternative rock band from California that first formed in 1980. They had a strong
underground following for their unique sound that blended elements of alternative/indie rock, psychedelica, punk and glam, as
well as for the flamboyant image of frontman James Moreland, who openly embraced crossdressing by the late 1980's. The
Leaving Trains also developed a bit of infamy when it was later revealed that Moreland was married to Courtney Love from 1989
until 1990. After releasing over a dozen albums and numerous singles, The Leaving Trains officially split in 2001, after over two
decades of solid activity.
