Scar Symmetry is a melodic death metal band from Sweden formed in 2004. In addition to typical melodic death metal aesthetics (numerous melodies and harmonies in the guitars, growling vocals, etc.), they incorporate symphonic sounds into their music. They also utilize a combination of clean vocals, which some fans find akin to power metal. Therefore their style is often described as "New Melodic Death". Their lyrics are themed towards mysticism, philosophy, and inner struggles.
