Objekt is TJ Hertz's adventures in machine music built to make subs rattle and feet wiggle; a convoluted mess of
elektrologyand teknology, 3-step, bass-core, post windmill, proto-minimal wankstep, gondola, shithouse, acid wonk, no
more, no less.
What began as two unassuming whitelabels at the start of 2011 has led to a bewildering, pan-genre spaceship ride

What began as two unassuming whitelabels at the start of 2011 has led to a bewildering, pan-genre spaceship ride
throughinternational acclaim from artists as diverse as Aphex Twin, Surgeon, Francois K, 2562, Blawan and god knows how
manymore; remixes for Radiohead and SBTRKT; mixes and podcasts for all the usual suspects; a release on London's
inimitableHessle Audio imprint and dozens of performances all over the world. But while his releases – twisted and irreverent
sure but, let's face it, ultimately still bass-fueled dancefloor bangers – have been busy bruising soundsystems and finding
their wayonto most end-of-year lists in electronic music, his DJ sets betray a much broader gamut of influences than his
productionsmight suggest. From gurgling industrial weirdery through to both very classic and very experimental techno, racy
90s and00s electro, IDM and more, his recorded mixes demonstrate this admirably, gliding seamlessly through artists as
diverse asJeff Mills, Alva Noto, DJ Stingray, Alex Cortex, DVS1, Emptyset and Alec Empire... all the while keeping a watchful
eye on thedancefloor but unafraid to test the allegience of the dancers.
TJ Hertz was born in Toyko, raised in the UK and currently lives in Berlin, where he works as a DSP developer for
NativeInstruments. « hide |
