Lordz of Brooklyn (also known as L.O.B.) are a hardcore rap group composed of brothers and childhood friends of mostly Irish American and Italian American descent from Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 1992, the original lineup consisted of the McLeer brothers: ADM and MC Kaves, with Scotty Edge, Dino Bottz and Paulie Nugent. Both Kaves and Edge were part of the 80s New York underground graffiti scene, with graffiti featured heavily in their music in songs like “Tales from the Rails”, “Bomb the System” and “Out Ta Bomb”. Lordz of Brooklyn (also known as L.O.B.) are a hardcore rap group composed of brothers and childhood friends of mostly Irish American and Italian American descent from Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 1992, the original lineup consisted of the McLeer brothers: ADM and MC Kaves, with Scotty Edge, Dino Bottz and Paulie Nugent. Both Kaves and Edge were part of the 80s New York underground graffiti scene, with graffiti featured heavily in their music in songs like “Tales from the Rails”, “Bomb the System” and “Out Ta Bomb”. In 1995, Lordz of Brooklyn released their first album “All in the Family”, which was a mild mainstream success, with its lead single, “Saturday Nite Fever”, being featured on two separate episodes of Beavis and Butt-head.
Starting around 1997, however, Lordz of Brooklyn started to noticeably scale back activities, and by 2003, every member besides the McLeer brothers left the group. As a duo with an actual live backing band, Lordz of Brooklyn released their second album, “Graffiti Roc”, released on the indies label High Times Records, founded by the popular magazine of the same name. Boasting guest appearances from artists like Busta Rhymes and Korn, the album was an underground success, with the group playing Warped Tour for three years straight, from 2003 through 2005. In late 2005, Lordz of Brooklyn changed their name simply to The Lordz, and under this name, remain somewhat active today, albeit at a largely irregular pace. « hide |
