I was born in Greenville, South Carolina. Greenville is one of the few American towns where they still fly the Confederate flag outside city hall. I haven't been back. They tell me Greenville is really beautiful. It is 96th on my future vacation list- sandwiched between Gaza and the World's Largest Prairie Dog in Oakley, Kansas.
One of my first bands, back in Jr. High, was called Big Mama. Our only song was based on the story "To Kill a Mockingbird", and it was called "Boo Radley, Why Don't You Come Out?". We played it in our auditorium during the 8th grade yearbook signing party. U ...read more

One of my first bands, back in Jr. High, was called Big Mama. Our only song was based on the story "To Kill a Mockingbird", and it was called "Boo Radley, Why Don't You Come Out?". We played it in our auditorium during the 8th grade yearbook signing party. Unfortunately, the amps were too loud and everyone went outside, covering their ears. This was hard on the band, and Big Mama broke up at the end of that day, citing 'creative differences'.
My first small taste of fame was in High School, when a song I recorded with friends was featured on the website for the punk band 'The Ataris'. We started to get fan emails from literally across the world. It was then that I really started to understand the power of music to connect people. I was your typical awkward high school kid then, and it was fun to imagine that all the girls who wrote the fan emails were really really good looking.
I've gotten to visit and perform in most of the United States of America. After more than 550 concerts, you'd think they would all blur together. But I remember details about every concert. I also remember hearing myself on the radio for the first time. Thank you 102.1 San Diego- It's weird to hear your voice coming from somewhere else when you know that you're not there, but it's definitely good-weird. Even weirder with TV...
Dark Chocolate and good Puns are my two weaknesses. A chocolate bar in the shape of a pun would be the holy grail. My personal trainer tells me that I need to cut down on the chocolate, and everyone else tells me that I need to cut down on the puns. A lot of people frown on puns, but Shakespeare used them, so power down.
If I haven't covered something here, drop me a note. I don't have all the answers, but I believe in the questions, and that's a good start.
