Emjay

Marie-Josee Riel, better known as Emjay, is an electronica artist from Toronto. First starting in music at the age of 13 as a backing vocalist for numerous local bands, she later launched her own solo career in 1993, still at the young age of 18. Although only having limited success in Europe and the US, she managed to have a decent amount of success in her home country of Canada, with two of her singles breaking the top 20 on the Canadian charts, and one, 1995's "Flying to the Moon", reaching number 4. In 2006, Emjay returned with the release of the single "Real High", which was a collaboration with an Amsterdam DJ of the same name, DJ Emjay. After the single, she then retired from the music scene once more. In 2018, after 12 years away, Emjay made her third return, this time announcing that she was in the works of releasing new material. In 2019, she released "Living My Life", which was her first solo release since 1999, and she remains active in the electronica scene today. « hide
