The band came to life as a solo project and through the vision of lead singer and rhythm guitarists, Jake Salazar. In 2010, Jake recruited original members in respective order, Tony Artusa (Bassist), Matt Shack (Lead Guitarist), and Dakota Henry (Drummer). That year they recorded and released their first EP in the summer titled, “Take It Slow.” Soon after the bands consolidation, they performed their debut at the Vibe Lounge, in Rockville Centre, New York. On March 16, 2012, Approaching Troy released their second album titled “Somnium,” which included their most recognizable song, “Star Crossed Lovers.” A few short months later the band experienced a drastic line up change that left band founder, Jake Salazar looking for new members to fill the ranks. In October of 2012, Jake came in contact band members Mike Gallagher (Drummer), Mike Moscato (Bassist), and Michael Makowski (Guitarist). Since that time, Approaching Troy spent countless hours practicing whenever possible at the A-Room, located in Hicksivlle, New York. That time presented them with the ability to connect on a more personal level, build band cohesiveness, practice original songs, and create new songs still to be released. With the introduction of its new members, the band grew in many ways. Some of these include its complexity in regards to synchronization, syncopation, and the use of captivating hooks. In October of 2013, Jack Kilkenny (drummer) came into contact with the band and quickly solidified himself as the new drummer for the forseeable future, hoping to further the band to new heights. Today, the band looks toward a future of making music, having fun in the process, and reaching out to new fans. « hide
