Review Summary: What is this??
I have recently seen all the attention that the new local band Stooma has caused a bit of an uproar here on Sputnik. And to be completely I can't understand why at all. It's awful! I don't know who this Stooma is but he's really weird. But what is more odd than Stooma himself is seeing how everyone is rating this EP so highly because quite frankly it's terrible! It is just an acoustic album which I am ok with, he is a local band so its obvious that he isn't going to have the best tools to work with but it sounds like he didn't put any time into it at all.
The lyrics are balls. I know what everyone is thinking. Oh he's not American, don't make fun of him for his English and accent, but I think it is perfectly okay to ridicule him for it! If you can barely speak English, then don't sing in English, it's that simple, not that difficult to do. But I would be ok with bad lyrics really if his voice was good or his guitar work was good. But they aren't. He sounds like he's barely even singing in any of the songs and doing kind of a whisper sing which works well sometimes but not on this EP and definitely not when used the whole time the album plays! His guitar work is awful too, he always misses some chords or solos and it all sounds really bad.
The good thing about this album and the reason it gets a 2 instead of a 1 is because its only like 10 minutes and doesn't last long enough to get on your nerves completely. All the songs are pretty awful but the last one is probably the best because it actually has a couple of nice melodies in it. All in all, Stooma needs to step up his game before trying to release another album, and everyone needs to stop being so crazy and 5'ing this thing because it's awful.
