Review Summary: This is what happens when British kids hear Every Time I Die. Not In Portland is a "Southern" metalcore band from Teesside, Ingerlund, and they do not afraid of anything. This is like if Every Time I Die had a child with The Blood Brothers... well in that musically, it's very Southern rock oriented metalcore, whilest Frankie's vocals remind me quite a bit of TBB. Anyway, enough with comparisons and on to the EP itself. Inherit Yourself is the debut most bands wish they could record, this doesn't sound like a new band, this sounds like a band that finally got their crap together.
Inherit Yourself is just over ten minutes of quirky aggression, brought to you by quite able lads. This is a band who can bust out the "mathcore" grooves without sounding like try-hards... I think it's referred to as subtlety, but I can't be too sure, since that hasn't really existed in even part-way tech oriented bands, which NIP is very loosely. The balance of this album leads way more towards melodic hardcore than the almost Botch-esque points, but that's not even the main sum of the album, so as you can imagine, it's got quite a balance. A lot of back-and-forth between the dbeat parts and the grooved out parts, which is a wonderful feeling. Also, have to note, they didn't litter this with chug chug breakdowns.

Overusing instagram, forever chasing, that pseudo glam
Well get your exclusive, 50 shirts, all here
Unicorn vomit, in colour, ebay gold
These days its all fashion and no passion, hipster hardcore 101
Now its all photoshoots, and snapback swag
So what happens when all your lyrics
Are just shit soundbites
You've politicised hardcore, in the worst, possible way.
So are you ready for the t-shirt vocal
This line, was designed
For a t-shirt
Trust fund kids, stop pretending, that you like Black Flag x2
Brocorematic lyrics.

lost had so much promise season 3 like what the fuck such a bummer thinking back
| | | i'm content with how things ended. i mean the show was ultimately a super long mystery, and the resolution of a mystery is never as interesting as the mystery itself, ya know?
| | | Album Rating: 5.0
i guess, but when most mysteries are "solved" (and i put solved in quotes because of the nature of Lost's conclusion), they don't compromise the rest of the story... for five seasons we afforded Lost some leeway that we probably wouldn't have if we knew they would just end on a cop-out
| | | i am happy that i could generate some lost discussion with my awful, awful, awful vocals.

I really like your vocals, honestly. Really reminds me of The Blood Brothers.

good review man but you got a few errors you may want to revise. This stuff is pretty cool, it sounds alot like the Jonbenet which is a good thing and the creativity heavily outweighs the breakdowns.
'they do not afraid of anything'
maybe "they are not afraid of anything"
'just over ten minutes quirky aggression'
-"of quirky aggression"

First one is a meme, second one is a typo, thanks for catching that.

No prob buddy. I only 3'd it because it's so short. After some improvement i'd love to see a full-length or a 30 minute album from these guys. The vocalist just needs to practice more he could be better.

Yeah, see that Frankie? Practice more you limey douche.
| | | Throat infection didn't really help hahaha, I'm working damn hard to improve on my singing. Writing for an album though.
