Review Summary: The Speed Limit Isn't That Fast.

Inepsy were a raging punk/metal/rock act that originated in Quebec, Canada. The group formed in 2002 and released their first EP "See You In Hell" the same year. The year is 2007, Inepsy releases their third and final full length "No Speed Limit For Destruction" after much touring and positively received prior releases. "No Speed Limit For Destruction" isn't that different from previous releases, however, it does feel like a band on autopilot. Making a forgettable can often be more sinful than making a bad record.

If there is one thing Inepsy excels at it is writing loud, dirty, and aggressive songs for anyone to get trashed too. "Time Bomb!" is one of the few highlights of this record showcasing their ability to write a fun Motorhead/UK82 inspired track. The proceeding song "Warriors Of Wasteland" features a very catchy guitar lead coupled with lyrics that wouldn't feel out of place in a Mad Max movie. It's a shame the best tracks are found at the end of the record. The sequencing of the record doesn't feel smart and leaves the listener with a record that does not seem cohesive.

The main issue with this record is the runtime. With 9 songs clocking in at 40 minutes it feels like a chore to sit through this record for 3 songs that are good. The record isn't bad by any means, although, the record is extremely bloated. Almost every song surpasses the 4-minute mark. With the style of music that Inepsy plays this is bad news, if you look back on their first record "Rock 'N' Roll Babylon" they crush 10 songs within 30 minutes without much filler. It's understandable for a band to want to progress, but that does not mean a band has to write longer songs with no real hooks.

To call a record "No Speed Limit For Destruction" and only have 2 songs that are even somewhat fast should be a crime. Rather than emulating Motorhead or GBH there's a resemblance to cock rock bands. The band seemed so content on writing mid-paced "anthems" they forgot what made them so great to begin with. Their singer spews out lyrics about needing "10 packs of smokes to ease the pain" which comes off as incredibly cheesy.

It's a shame that this record turned out the way it did. This record does not feel like a betrayal such as Discharge's "Grave New World" did upon release. "No Speed Limit For Destruction" is just flat out boring. The only tracks that anyone should check out are "Time Bomb!," "Warriors Of Wasteland," and "Among The Remains." Listen to "Rock 'N' Roll Babylon" and just move along.
