Review Summary: A brilliant political album which has consistent image & sound. The Lyrics are good and they always have a concept.
Soundtrack to the Struggle is the second studio album by rapper Lowkey. He first broke into the rap scene when releasing his first studio album, 'Dear Listener'. Now, onto the album.
The First track, 'Soundtrack To The Struggle' has a catchy beat & meaningful lyrics making a brilliant start to the album. The second track, 'Too Much' is a nice track but not amazing. His lyrical ability is still on point during the song though. The third song 'Voice Of The Voiceless' which features much loved, 'Immortal Technique' has brilliant production & a brilliant concept. He shows his political side in which, he pulls off brilliantly. Overall, a great track.
The fourth track 'Hand Your Gun' is a good song but the corny gun sound effects in the background bring it down a bit. But still a good track. The fifth song (excluding skits), 'Terrorist?' is a very catchy song with a soulful hook. Lowkey kinda goes off topic at points with his lyrics but a great song overall. The sixth track, 'Something Wonderful' has nice smooth hook while Lowkey stays on the topic of the amount of respect of women receive today. Although, the hook is nice & the lyrics are nice, the production begins to get boring and lowers the song a bit.
On the seventh track, 'Dreamers' which features the soulful singer 'Mai Khalil'. Her voice brings a nice new sound to Lowkey. Lyrically, Lowkey keeps on the concept of a girl which he describes as beautiful. The hook features the words 'Sometimes i really hate myself' which displays the words of a girl who is in pain. On the seventh track 'Obama Nation', Lowkey exposes President Barack Obama. This is one of the best songs on the album. Lowkey's lyrics are catchy & memorable. Lowkey shows his personality & shows that he's not afraid to speak out which is what I like about him.
The eighth track, 'Cradle Of Civilisation' has a catchy hook which features the 'Oh, how good is freedom' (translated). He exposes that there actually any freedom although people suggest it. He brings a new concept which he keeps on topic with. the ninth track, 'Blood, Sweat & Tears' is probably one of the weakest tracks on the album. The production sounds very watered down although, it is listenable. Lowkey as always has good lyrics. Although, I didn't really like the featuring artist, 'Klashnekoff'. I just didn't really like his personality.
