Certainly not one of the best industrial albums, but it has it's moments of great quality, such as in tracks 3, 4, 6, 8, and 9. If given a choice, I'd much rather listen to this album than NIN's Pretty Hate Machine.

On their precursor to their debut LP Bites, Skinny Puppy demonstrates the type of catchy, driving EBM that paved the way for early Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. Opener "Smothered Hope" does a nice job of setting the menacing tone the EP has, and Nivek Ogre's vocals are typically great. "Glass Houses" might just be one of the catchiest songs they ever put to wax, with its addicting synth and beat work courtesy of cEvin Key, and some very nice fretless bass. A revamped version of "Sleeping Beast" from their debut EP also makes itself a nice home as one of the catchiest the band has written, with the lines (both synth and lyrical) being excellent as well as the metaphor for a nuclear holocaust. Remission accomplishes its mission statement very easily, with twenty-four minutes of electro-industrial EBM setting the stage for bigger and better things to come from the band.
