Review Summary: Enter Velocity.

You walk out through the curved portal, naked and without any recollection of your former self. The portal closes. Beyond you is a beam of panneled floor board that stretches beyond conceivable measure. To your right is a giant speaker with a small LED screen. The screen suddenly starts to flash the words "Escape Velocity", as a swirling oscillation pattern begans to play through the speaker. As you turn left, you notice a line of combat aircraft emerging from the distance, and out of nowhere a Delorean DMC-12B hologram emerges by your side. You quickly enter the car as the aircraft open fire.

A live drum kit starts to bang as the Delorean speeds to 50-100-200-300mph down the line of floor boards. The enemies emerge closer through the clear blue sky, still chaotically thrusting their weapons in your direction; as a thick synthesizer chord scores it. The LED screen of the speaker fades and begins to flash the words "Slow Oscillations", as oscillators of quite the contrary begin zipping through the speakers. Suddenly the Delorean starts to gravitate upwards from floor boards; flying high up into the skies above.

The enemies begin to gain on you, as pulses of electronics wisp through the landscape. You hit TURBO. As the Delorean picks up speed, your left window shatters from oncoming fire; air quickly jets inside. The LED screen fades and begins to flash the words "Shrunken Heads", as the blue sky fades to black. A swift beam of hazy green lines begin to fill the sky like graph paper. The enemies draw closer.

Dark pulses and moody synthesizers flood out of the speakers, as you look down to see hundreds of civilians falling victim to the weapons of the aircraft. The enemy is relentless. In spite of the danger you turn around, just as the LED screen displays the words "De3" across the speaker. Blipping electronics stir throughout the landscape as you face the line of enemies. Silence quickly emerges.

The beat springs in, and you strategically begin to open fire and dodge oncoming attack. 1 down. A bullet clips the side of the Delorean and smoke catapults through the metal harbors. You race down the edge of the floor as the two remaining aircraft align straight in your vision. They begin to open fire, and quickly mask the Delorean in bullet holes, smoke, and fire. The music glows and intensifies in a rendering rage, as begin to prepare yourself. Your heart thickens as you race towards the last of your enemies. The moment you nearly collide with the speeding enemies, you smack the emergency eject button and fly out of the Delorean; onto the floor boards, as the two remaining enemies collide into your unmanned vehicle and fall into oblivion.

The LED screen fades and reads the words "Time For Troubles". Hard synthesizer chords embellish the scale of the events that just took place. There are no survivors. You walk off into the distance as the smoke filled sky transitions into a weeping sunset. The melancholy of rendered textures guide you home.

What annoys me is how songs don't seem to go anywhere. I think Spirit Animal is better. If they had a few more post-rock or prog leanings and some of their songs properly took flight, this band would be insanely good
