this album shouldn't work, it's almost schizo how it jumps from classic big star power pop with emphasis on good melodies and childish naivety to well i don't know something in the vein of Nick Drake's Parasite (Holocaust says it all). There is a lovely cover of VU's Femme Fatale, a religious christmas song, bleak brooding songs (Big Black Car, Holocaust, Kangaroo) which at first sound a little unsettling, that's because they are fucking scary. There was nothing the matter on the first part, so why is the singer suddenly falling apart in despair. I don't know that story, but i know that although it sounds jarring at first, it is an unusual collection of songs and if you liked either #1 record (Nighttime, Blue moon, Big Black Car) or Radio City (Kizza me, Take Care, O, Dana) you will love a bunch of these songs. I know I do.
