Release Date: 1990 | Tracklist

Shoegaze and EP's go together like two peas in a pod. Many acts in the genre released their finest material on the format, such as Swervedriver and The Verve, and Lush is no exception. Following the release of their mini-LP Scar, Mad Love further incorporates the then blooming shoegaze sound, with limited focus on the post-punk Cocteau Twins esque sound of the 80s, but still retains those elements to an extent. Each song stands separately as an excellent piece, although the opener Deluxe is truly the definitive Lush song, featuring an intoxicating melody complimented by Miki Berenyi's ethereal singing. It is not without faults however. The song Downer is in the vein of their earlier post-punk approach and isn't as strong as the other three tracks, even with the addition of some almost haunting vocal harmonies.

At just 12 minutes, Mad Love is the perfect length for Lush's frolicking style. The band manages to create a rich atmosphere through delay-coated guitar lines and angelic vocals. While their first two LP's are undeniably solid, the larkish nature of the band proved insufficient for an overtly engaging full-length.

"plz point out grammar stuff i failed english twice"

Okay:
- 'Coctaeu Twins': Cocteau Twins (and could use a '-' before 'esque' but not necessary)
- 'delay coated': here the '-' is kinda necessary, to avoid confusion so 'delay-coated'
- 'LPs ': LP's

Oh, and pos.
