First of all, this is my first review, but I'm trying my hardest on this warm, hungover morning.

Robert Plant is a name that probably shouldn't need introduction. He used to sing for the band Led Zeppelin. After the death of John Bonham they decided to not continue. Robert Plant then went and found a new band. This was The Strange Sensation. This album is their debut release, and it looks pretty promising. They don't sound like Zeppelin at all, and Plant's voice is as good as ever. I personally like it a lot more, there isn't much of him screaming or anything.

1. Another Tribe - It kick's in with some drumming, then a guitar plays a few chords. Then Plant's vocals kick in. You can hear the bass in this song very well and it's player perfectly. It seems to be an anti-war song, which is a pretty predominant theme in this album. 3.5/5.

2. Shine it All Around - Chances are you've heard this on the radio. It's a very chill song, to relax too. It begins with a weird keyboard intro then the drums, guitar and bass all kick in. This song contains some really well done vocals by Plant also. This song contains a small guitar solo, but I'm pretty sure it isn't meant to be a solo. The ugitar has great tone though. 5/5

3. Freedom Fries - Starts off with the drums pounding and a quick guitar riff. Plant begins singing as the riff is ended and it is repeated after he finishes the verse. This song is pretty well done. It is pretty upbeat and a good listen. This song end's with a guitar solo. It isn't amazing, but it's pretty impressive and a nice relief from all the new bands without solo's. 4.5/5.

4. Tin Pin Valley - Start's with a keyboard that reminds me kind of Du Hast by Rammstein. Then the bass kick's in. Later the drums do as well as Plants vocals. Pretty psychedlic song, filled with weird sound, until about 2 minutes in. Then everything gets a loud louder and heavier, ad then calms back down. 4/5.

5. All the Kings Horses - This is one of my least favourite. It is an acoustic song. Pretty slow, but the guitar is played very well. There isn't much I can say, it is a decent track but not amazing. 3/5.

6. The Enchanter - Begins with a weird bluesy guitar, which continues the riffage when Plant begins to sing. This song contains some of my favourite bass work on the album. It just flows very well with the song, and is almost a lot more predominent then the guitar most of the time. This sound is also pretty mellow. Oddly enough it ends in a techno like way. A lot of weird songs are carried on by a beat, which reminds me of techno. 4/5.

7. Takamba - Begins with a riff which seems something that couldn't be from Zeppelin. Then it ocntinues into an even more Zeppelin sounding riff. This song is about freedom, like most other songs on this album. This contains some good lyrics and a few drug references, if you can catch them. There's a nice solo at the end and Plant gives some screams and noises over, to fit with the solo. Pretty good solo, imo. 4.5/5.

8. Dancing in Heaven - The intro seems extremely Zeppelin. This whole song seems extremely familiar to me for some reason. Anyways it's an upbeat positive song. Bass is very good, like in all songs. The guitar playing is also top notch, as well as the drumming. Nothing extremely special in this song, but it's good. 4/5.

9. Somebody Knocking - The bass line drives the starting verse. This song seems too repetetive though. Prob my least fav on the album. 2.5/5.

10. Let the Four Winds Blow - A blues guitar intro leasds into a slow rocker. It is slow the first half and then really picks up. It has a pretty cool guitar riff, that somehow reminds me of Alice Cooper... It is a very blues based song. With a nice solo in the midle. 4/5.

11. Mighty Rearranger - The title track does not dissapoint. The guitar, drums at the beginning are very good. It is a pretty catchy song. The vocals sung by Plant just have a nice flow to them and the guitar in the back follows his lead. It is one of the most upbeat songs on the album, and one of my personal favourites. There is a guitar solo about 3 minutes. Nothing special, but it flows with the song. 4.5/5.

12. Brother Ray - At the beginning it sounds like some old fashioned walltz. It continues with that kind of theme, with some nice piano. It ends this about a minute and a half into it. Then we hear Plant "scream" a bit. Then it goes into another techno beat, lol. It continues like this the whole song, with some vocals over it after awhile. It seems to be a compilation of the songs of the album. It's like a remix, in a more techno way. It's odd. A good song to drive to though. 4/5.

I think that this band, even though their frontman will always be labeled with Zeppelin has a great future. Their music is awesome to chill out to. I recommend this album to eveyrone who likes Zeppelin, or wants to hear a good new band, or jsut enjoys some good rock. 4/5.

Billy Fuller - Bass (Awesome Bassist btw)
Clive Deamer - Drums
John Baggot - Keyboard and Synths
Justin Adams - Guitar
Robert Plant - Vocals
Skin Tyson - Guitar

Thank you, this is my first review, so give me some crit please.

hey, this is a pretty good first review, I think this album is pretty good too.

Here's a small crit though; throughout the review you only really go into detail on the songs themeselves, when I'm reading a review I like to hear what else is going on in the record. I prefer to have context all the way through rather than a small paragraph lumped at the start; Hence I prefer reviews written on a non track-by-track basis.

Other than that I have no problem with it though, good start.

Yup. I see what you mean. It really is just a few songs though, there isn't way too much to go in depth about the album though.

If I was reviewing a concept album, or some prog album I would definetely do it that way.

Thanks for the comments.

I guess it's al personal opinion. I might be a little biased from seeing him live, but I guess that shouldn't matter. A few song's are pretty good, but overall it seems repetetive I guess.

Yeah...noone should listen to this with Zeppelin in mind. Its good, but different. Yes, it is kind of repetitive with the North African influence, but hey...Robert Plant is... Robert Plant. This album is worth buying just because of that.

I agree. I think this band is more about creating a certain atmosphere... and then the next song, changing it completely.

Like, Shine it all Around is a great song to jsut chill out to at home or something, but then Brother Ray comes along and it sounds like a song that should be at a rave or something. This Message Edited On 02.19.06

I love plant he is one of the all-time greatest blues singers! I don't know much about his solo career but if it's plant it must be good.
