Review Summary: "Tu en tu Casa, Nosotros en La Hoguera" is immature and bad sounding, but still a spanish rock classic!
Extremoduro was formed in 1987, and after many efforts, they managed to release their first album called "Tu en Tu casa Nosotros en La Hoguera" (You in Your House, Us at the Bonfire) in 1989, after carrying out a pioneering crowdfunding campaign in which they pre-sold the album in order to cover the recording expenses, wich lasted only one week.
During this time, Extremoduro was a trio consisting of Robe on vocals and guitars, Salo on bass, and Luis von Fanta on drums. To edit the album, they signed a contract with the company Avispa, which later led to many legal issues due to its abusive conditions and the illicit use of unpublished material and demos from the group.
The album presents a gritty and streetwise hard rock with progressive nuances and a rather original song structure, which gave it a more complex air compared to other bands in Spain during that era. Robe's poetic, raw, and irreverent lyrics stand out as the highlight of a set of songs that have already become part of the history of Spanish rock.
Unfortunately, the sound production leaves much to be desired. However, this granted the album an air of authenticity that, in my opinion, even enhances its value. It has some positive aspects such as the clarity of the bass and how well Robe's lyrics are understood, something fundamental to enjoy the band.
Top tracks: Extremaydura (very critical and fun), Decidi (powerful with great lyrics), Romperas (one of the first songs composed by Robe for Extremoduro), Amor Castuo (a great song with romantic yet gritty lyrics, the band's trademark), and Jesucristo Garcia (an undisputed classic of Spanish rock and one of Extremoduro's best songs overall)
Notable Mention: La Hoguera (this song was an anthem in Extremoduro's early concerts and it has a great chorus)
Conclusion: "Tu en tu Casa, Nosotros en la Hoguera" was an excellent debut for one of the greatest bands in Spanish rock. A true classic that hasn't lost its strength over the years and, in my opinion, is better than the 1994 reissue called "Rock Transgresivo" since it's more authentic and representative of the group's origins.
