I was too excited when I found out that they were putting out a new album since it had been so many years and I was such a big fan. I think they really lost something without the original bassist. They still had the "sound" of the Toadies, but the angst was gone and all that was left was the fast paced chugging guitars. Don't get me wrong i love that sound, but it was too..... happy? I think Song I Hate is clever- in that i hate and love the song at the same time. I'm thinking he was playing into the simplicity of the 4 chord catchy tune. It feels good but you know it's bad. Sad to say but i think Todd is just getting older and "settling down" is bad for rock music.
