1.5 very poor | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | July 8th 23 | On "Paris-Hawai", the French pop chameleons La Femme move into a more electronic, downtempo, ambient, rainy and foggy direction. Unlike their previous album, this is much more cohesive and does not contain too many stylistically jarring choices. However - and this is a large-ass however - the entire album is drowned in some of the most wishy-washy and neutered sound and song-writing the band has ever laid on record. Every track is like a drawn-out, bland pop mush, where no concrete idea ever comes to fruition, other than a vague vision of "make it kinda dim like" or whatever.
