The newest album from Yves Tumor builds off of the Neo-psychedelic sound they had created on their ?Heaven to a Tortured Mind? record in 2020 as well as the post-punk and art rock styles of their 2021 ?The Asymptotical World EP?. However, for me as great as this record is overall it does fail to pull me in and bash me over the head like the EP did and has a hard time fully grasping me across the run time as the LP did. It still has its moments, but everything feels a bit too cluttered and inconsistent to really make it stand out from others.

Yves Tumor delivers about their most booming, ambitious record to date, doubling down on just about every direction any number of their previous projects took. The result is at its peak an expansive, decadent odyssey with creative instrumental and melodic ideas, but at its lowest a shapeless bloated mess.

Every time YT releases something new I become a much bigger fan. Their musical evolution is so intriguing and I am so enthralled. Another incredible release that has much more depth than Asymptotical did, much like Heaven.

Tumor expands on what made The Asymptotical World work better than the seemingly similar Heaven to a Tortured Mind: making sure production is not the only thing the songs have got for themselves. Praise a Lord... is poppier than all their previous records, but it fortunately does not come at the expense of that lush rush of psychy post-punk. It's not all just makeup.
