3.1 good | Erwann S. STAFF | October 29th 22 | And I Have Been is Clementine's love letter to French impressionists like Satie, Ravel, or Debussy. While the art pop touches are still present, he mostly lets go of the exuberance that characterized the most bombastic moments of I Tell A Fly. It makes for a record that, while undeniably beautiful, loses some power because of its all-in approach.

4.5 superb | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | February 17th 23 | Benjamin Clementine delves into the subtle-most territories he's ever delved. With a great influence from 20th century impressionist compositions, this album can often be as bare as just Benjamin's voice laid over thin piano medley. This may be a turn off for those expecting a grandiose extravaganza akin to 'I Tell a Fly', but honestly if he'd tried to go even further in that direction, he'd run the risk of turning totally goofy. As it is, 'And I Have Been' is stunning in its simplisity and demonstrates that less can indeed be more.

3.0 good | JJKeys | October 28th 22 | Upon first listen, 'And I Have Been' feels really tame and less intriguing than 'I Tell A Fly'. The main thing that sticks in the mind is how Benjamin's voice painfully strains to hit the high notes in "Delighted", though on the flipside "Lovelustreman" is a standout track
