4.0 excellent | Lucman | June 4th 22 | I wasn't entirely sure if Van Deusen would be able to capitalize on his promise by moving beyond his fresh take on alternative rock, but Marathon Daze builds upon A Catacomb Hymn's strengths with sublime pop/rock songwriting and lyrical honesty. It's some of the most sonically beautiful work by a religious artist in years, crafted in the midst of a heartbreak that can be related to by anyone from nearly every walk of life.

4.0 excellent | Potatodinner | June 20th 22 | Man, this guy is so underrated. Such a solid pop/alternative rock songwriter. I suspect that his label as a Christian artist is likely what keeps him from gaining a larger following - which is a shame. This is despite the fact that this album and his last are not overtly Christian for the most part. Highly, highly recommend if you are an enjoyer of well-crafted alternative rock with pop leanings and meaningful lyrics.
