Review Summary: A surprisingly effective debut.

Eternal Ascent are a mix of Dragonland and neoclassical riffs ala Rhapsody of Fire. Masterful guitar work, with thunderous double bass kicks, and powerful, vibrato-heavy vocals ignite their indiscreet, assailing, and notably energetic metallic quest. The explosive sound production will either entertain, or seem fairly obnoxious depending on your comfort level with power metal - it’s a loud, brash album. Eternal Ascent are yet another generic power metal band among the sea of them, yet their shameless aggression and general skill give them a literal edge. As long as you’re ready to indulge yourself with some brazen cheese, Reclamation may look like a tasty morsel. They’re not winning points for originality, but it’s a damn solid album without much let up, especially for a debut. Entertaining? Definitely.

My recommendation: fans of power metal, check this one out.

This sounds pretty good. I recently found that I am a sucker for neoclassical stuff and I need to listen to more of it too. Might give it a listen.

Just listened to this and yeah, it is really good. Absolutely loved the guitar on the album. I think this might grow on me a bit more though.

Yeah, it’s a grower. Sometimes my 3.5 feels a little low…
