Every so often an album comes along and unexpectedly floors you. Reviewing Decembers releases in early January was a good move as this one could easily have been missed. As soon as I played it I knew it was something special. I suppose it sits in the post black metal genre but its progressive and melodic nature allows a broad appeal. The clear flowing guitars and excellent drum tones sit perfectly to accommodate the clean vocals which to be quite honest take this from a very good release to an exceptional album. Apart from its beautifully powerful sound, its the songwriting, melodies and personal lyrics that elevate this above most other albums.
