4.0 excellent | AshMcAuliffe | August 21st 09 | Rewind back to when Bis first started on with their debut appearance on Top of the Pops in the mid 1990s and then followed their evolution from Low-Fi ("The New Transistor Heroes") to Pop ("Social Dancing") to full on Electronica ("Return To Central).
The band were a jewel in the British pop crown but where sadly never fully embraced by the public. The band eventually called it a day in 2004.
Whilst the guys in the band have gone underground with their techno outfit Dirty Hospital, Manda Rin has decided to take a fresh stab at the mainstream with her fantastic solo album.
The album is a good mix of electronica, pop/rock and even dance. The sound of the album is easily equated to that of The Gossip, New Young Pony Club and CSS. Yet Manda was doing this years before these bands got together.
Highlights on the album include the fantastic singles DNA and Guilty Pleasure, Do The Static and Love To Hate You.
Roll on album 2... hopefully Ms Rin will get the recognition she deserves.
