3.5 great | Dark Coalition Press | January 26th 23 | The debut of the Ruumisto music project published on the official Bandcamp page of the
Finnish duo impressed us a lot, in particular for the quality of the audio and the vastness
of sounds that they managed to put in place on the album.
Sotakesa is a great mix of environment drones and sampling of various plucked instruments
(cetre, harps), wind instruments (horns, flutes), stringed instruments (talharpa), bells and
voices (singing, troath singing and polyphonic singing)
A really varied album, which goes from songs that remind us of the sounds of Forndom, then
move on to a much darker genre similar to the Phurpa with a strong presence of the troath
singing and dark ambient drones. The result is a rich soundscape, with a dark tone.
Definitely one of the neofolk-ambient albums inspired by traditional music most promising in
the scene.
