Motions of The Spinning Black Sun is a recording by power electronics act 88MM. I can't find a hell of a lot of information on the project, apart from an inclusion of the Satanic Skinhead Propaganda’s
Declaration Of Anti-Semetic Terror compilation and a split with the artist Deathkey, but that only adds to the mystery that surrounds this release which came out of nowhere in 2008.
This is perhaps one of the most unique noise recordings I have ever heard, one of the first things that comes to mind describing it is that if Tangerine Dream were to take a foray into the realm of power electronics and death industrial this might just the result. Indeed, it is full of repetitive analogue moog sequencing which is breath of fresh air in a genre that can often be accused of being stale, but unlike Tangerine Dream this has a much darker and sinister air about it due to the harsh rhythmic frequencies present throughout.
Sequence Manipulation I (Motions of the Spinning Black Sun) sets the scene, with it's warped pulsing electronics and samples of German soldier rallies it presents a hypnotic contrast of which following track
Behold...For the Universe is Ours is similar to, but with more of an ambient air about it.
M104 is where the true strengths of the album present itself, it's rhythmic loop and samples nothing short of perfection.

Untitled. This is perhaps one of the most sinister recordings i've ever heard, as a sample of a concentration camp victim recounts his story "
Then we shouted give us some water, we are thirsty. And we heard crying back... you damn jews. Didn't they kill you yet?". The music is a perfect intensifier of this, and builds up from humble beginnings to a truly disturbing concoction of noise frequencies and electronics.
Motions of The Spinning Black Sun is perhaps one of the best power electronics recordings to come out over the past few years, making itself distinctive enough to provide a level variety to the genre but not abandoning its roots in subversive noise terror. It is short, and the inclusion of silent tracks is ridiculous but apart from this it a perfect length which is just enough to execute 20 minutes or so of some of the most hypnotic sound experiments I have ever heard.
