3.5 great | Vanilla Scoop Rangler (don\'t come near me I have a gun) | January 19th 22 | In the world of early 2000s british independent music, Blakfish created their unique blend of underground punk and mathcore. Vocals can get a bit screechy at times, but will have the nice, clean, British accented singing mixed in. Guitars have a major role in the band, having many math rock influences with some hardcore punk riffs blended in with the fast paced drums playing. Few of the songs were alright. But for the most part, Blakfish crafted See You in Another City to an absolutly fun and inspiring EP.

4.5 superb | theironlotus | August 25th 11 | I'm mostly in love with this EP. The guitars weave a speedy tapestry of abrupt starts and stops, the drums remind me of The Fall of Troy in the way that they mesh with the vocals, and the vocals themselves are superb. Even the bass has a few standout bits, but for the most part it closely follows the guitarline. Overall, that's a minor issue - and if anything, it's a positive, since the bass itself is speedy. I could care less. This album is fun as hell, with the only negative possibly being the lyrics.

4.5 superb | Sonicboomer | August 12th 09 | This release is a fantastic listen. Blakfish have a pretty unique overall sounds which although can be compared to one or two other post-hardcore / math-rock bands stays very intersting.
This is one of my favourite discoveries in recent months. a big recommendation

3.5 great | Thomas S. | July 13th 09 | Blakfish are smart with their particular brand of stop-start post-hardcore. Combining the dissonance of early The Fall of Troy and the catchy harmonies of Thrice circa The Illusion of Safety with the technicality of Meet Me In St. Louis, See You In Another City is a record that will appeal to both ends of the hardcore spectrum. Angular drumming and impressive intertwining guitars give an impression of a much more mature outfit, and a memorable scream will keep these five songs in your head for days.
