3.1 good | Erwann S. STAFF | December 1st 20 | January 12th 2020, in Toronto. The same quartet featured on Matthew Tavares & Leland Whitty's 2020 album Visions' play a live improv session. This should have been the very beginning of a tour, each night consisting of an improvised performance. Of course, it didn't happened. January 12th thus acts as a snapshot of events that didn't happen. The musician's chemistry is once again evident, but instead of incorporating already-composed material within the jammy tunes, this time the music is entirely improvised. It makes for some real cool moments, but also meandering ones. Aight avant-jazz fusion bullshit that does not eclipse their other 2020 record.
