I don't believe I'd say False Peace is Aseitas's premonition of the future of death metal - but it's a damn fine amalgam of much of extreme metal's most influential acts over the past decade, obligatory TDEP/Meshuggah/Car Bomb name drops as pertinent as ever.

A gargantuan slab of core-tinged brutal death metal. It flicks the experimental switch with peripheral electronics and clean soaring guitar solos that weave themselves throughout the swampy Meshuggah-isms. Easily one of the heaviest albums I've heard from 2020, and among those it is probably the most refreshing. Gorguts worship abound, but there isn't a death metal band around creating djanky dissonant music who doesn't owe those Canadians a massive debt. On the negative side it is a tad overlong for how aggressive it is, but that's only a passing phase as the final track throws a curve ball that reinvigorates the experience

I first heard about this album through the band advertising it on Instagram, and I'm glad they put the money in for it because this thing is absolutely insane. The grooves these riffs hit are really out there a lot of the time, the vocals are super dynamic, and the production is super chunky in a really satisfying way. Their cover art is also absolutely insane, with this one especially reminding of a Castlevania final boss or something.
BUT, this thing is waaaaaay too long. 20 minutes or even half an hour could have been cut and the album would have been better for it. It's not that the songs run out of ideas or anything, it's just that with this style of music, it gets fatiguing listening to something so abrasive for well over an hour.

Ok, this actually sounds about as fresh and new as anything I've heard in the death metal world in a while. Really promising stuff.
