They might as well have called this one Grimmrobe: The Good Version. That's because OO Void is literally the same thing stylistically (and to an extent, compositionally) as The Grimmrobe Demos, but sonically, it surpasses its predecessor in every conceivable way. The production this time around give a massive feeling to the guitars, and the wall of sound achieves a hypnotic vibe. The variations within the songs come earlier and more often than those of its predecessor, allowing the listener some time away from the seemingly endless repetition. All this said, the album is still sometimes a chore to get through, as one hour of Earth-worshipping drones without drums and barely any vocals inevitably will be, and though it accomplishes everything Grimmrobe set out to do from an aesthetic standpoint, the songwriting is still very samey and average. This incarnation of their debut is certainly the better of them for Sunn O))), as the production beefs everything up, and helps OO Void succeed where Grimmrobe failed.
