Before anything, significant reference is due to the superb sound work especially for such an underground outfit. Tremendous depth has been bestowed to all instruments, while no discount is evident regarding the coarse grained demeanor of a great second wave/atmospheric black that the album strives for. Scourge of the Stars has a bit of post metal under the hood as well, sagely concealed mostly within the rhythm section, and less in the guitars, which have taken their fair bit from the Thorns demos.
