The Habit of Fire combines the caustic metal of Kekal's early days with a more deliberate approach, an increased focus on dense, unforgettable melodies and dynamic peaks, and a pervasive electronic influence, the totality of which vividly portrays the dramatic struggle between primal human spirit and the encroaching urban sprawl in the postmodern world, even representing the ongoing struggle between good and evil since the beginning of time. "Escapism" is one of my all-time favorite songs. An absolute essential avant-garde metal album and highly recommended for musicians and music enthusiasts, as well as social theorists interested in the thematic content.
