3.8 excellent | Voivod STAFF | May 2nd 20 | It's hard to tell why this is really the case, but the best Chilean thrash/metal metal bands are better than most of their Latin American peers, while they rival just about any other homologous/notable US/European metal outfit out there. With their sophomore album, Chilean Parkcrest are certainly among the recent additions to the aforementioned cluster. Their native/torrentous Latin American metal demeanor has been blended with legacy tech thrash lores from both sides of the Atlantic - Coma of Souls-era Kreator and late '80s Heathen - plus that awesome groove Megadeth perfected in Rust In Peace. If their lead guitars become as elaborate as their rhythm counterparts, their next album will be even better. Favorite track: Impossible to Hide.
