2004 brought some truly extraordinary events. Movies were top-notch, music was at a high peak and video games began to revolutionize the entertainment world. Out of the great selection, one game stood out and kept its word. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was the most epic adventure ever brought to any gaming console in the world. Considered one of the greatest video games of all time, still counting, and many key elements make it what it is. The soundtrack is purely based around 15 + hours of old-skool gangsta rap, rock, hilarious talk stations and acid jazz. While San Andreas didn't just spawn a city, it created a country to explore. A visual landscape or down-sized replica of three famous American cities. Traveling to these cities is time-consuming, so what better way to pass time than pop on the radio station?
The Good
Each intelligent (or, mostly intelligent) radio station consists of driving hip-hop and rocks most memorable songs. Many artists make an appearance, from the Chronic-crunch of Dr. Dre to the political anger of Rage Against The Machine. Ozzy Osbourne, Kool & The Gang, Bobby Brown, The Who, Public Enemy, Slick Rick, Cypress Hill, Guns N Roses... and thats just the tip of the iceberg. Every player should find their own slice of pie in one of the radio stations, as it varies in different genres rather than just the classics in Vice City. Unfortunately, the songs can't be taken in by one trip through the countryside, so you'll be hearing most of the same stuff. The talk station, WCTR, is hilarious, performing skits from the vocal talents of Columbus Short and even Chris Rock. It often touches on commercials advertising fake boob implants, aliens shooting at drunken hillbillies in the mountains and shock therapy about guys who still live with their mothers. Its genius, but not as funny as hoped. Nevertheless, it will have you in stitches during long missions.
The Bad
I can't think of anything bad to mention about the soundtrack, except for K-Rose and its awful country classics. Wait, I do. "All My Ex's Live In Texas". Apart from that, you'll find a solid soundtrack to the core. It doesn't capture the action in any way, though, which is the only letdown. You might be doing the most serious mission in the game while country music is cracking out your speakers. Not exactly a fashionable trend. There is a lot to look forward to, a lot to hate, but in the end it cares for all genres, like it or not.
The Conclusion
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas pushed the envelope of remarkable video games, and the soundtrack is absolute perfection. Don't like it? The X-Box and PC versions accomidate your own custom tracks. Your own radio station might never grow tiring, but you'll still be yearning to listen to some of the games own stations from time to time. Epic soundtrack... End.

Vice City soundtrack was far better.
| | | why don't people offer constructive criticism anymore
who the hell let this guy get to 28 reviews
| | | It's best to assume that people on a music site want to listen to music, and not play games, as this praises the game more than the actual music.
There was also an actual double CD released for the soundtrack, so that was misleading as a lot of the songs you mentioned aren't on those CDs.
And perhaps the biggest crime is not having Rebel Without a Pause in the recommended tracks.
| | | Ha ha sweet. This my ideal video game. No strategy, no work, and no difficulty. I prefer having a custom soundtarck over what this ahs to offer though.

| | | The review doesn't really make sense with the rating... 5/5, yet a whole portion of the soundtrack is bad? I think you know what's wrong with this review, no need for me to tell you...
Midlife Crisis - Faith No More rocks damn hard. Good choice for the soundtrack, I think.

This type of writing is seriously cringe worthy dude.
I agree with the rating, when San Andreas came out it ate up a good chunk of my life and the soundtrack was no small part of that. it is an amazing selection of music, some of which I knew before and was ecstactic to find included in the game (particularly faith no more and soundgarden) but there was a lot of stuff new to me I discovered as well. It really added to an amazing experience which I was happy to be a part of.
This does not extend to this review however, ouch. Plus you dissed on the country station, it had a phenomenal selection
You still managed to give it a 5 though :/

The ****?
How can you have an "awful" classic? If it's a classic, then that kinda implies that the music is top notch, great, outstanding, awesome, superb, magnificent, excellent, spectacular, brilliant, very fine, marvellous, gorgeous, bodacious, exquisite, breathtaking, first-rate, admirable, superlative, or very good.
