Review Summary: Ildjarn's Forest Poetry is the rudimentary spawn of Satan. Let it resonate deep within your eardrums.

Many have compared Ildjarn's Forest Poetry to the workings of some black metal figure expressing his love of Black Flag-esque punk music by letting both of these styles coalesce into a gritty, monotonous whole. And honestly, there is a huge amount of validity in this comparison. Ildjarn's music is fast, thrashy and fuzzy, and the angularity to it all could easily trigger a bad reaction in most listeners. But what Ildjarn lacks in technical integrity, he makes up for in atmospheric intensity. His lo-fi and discordant style of black metal generally makes for an off-putting first listen, however further listens reveal a misanthropic nature that comes naturally to this Norwegian solo outfit, and better yet, all those noisy guitar chords act not only as punky bouts of guitar noise, but they become catchy in unexpected ways. These riffs drill holes in your head and infect your mind - they force a foot tapping, like the simplistic percussion that begs loudly for some finger-drumming on a nearby desk. This does not by any means detract from the atmosphere of the release, though, which keeps Forest Poetry from being just another rudimentary black metal release. The album is associated with pure hatred, and throughout its fifty-one minute duration, it invades your ear drums in twisted ways.

Short black metal write-up for the stoned who, like me, realize why this needed a review.

Artwork is so inviting as to really capture the essence of the human spirit. However, there's no pink flaswango. Take 1.5 points off effective immediately.

Good soundoff. You've been somewhat inactive for a while now, eh? Or maybe I'm just not paying attention.
