These 5 guys out of West Virginia know how to rock with a passion that most musicians lack these days. Robert McCutcheon on Vocals, Bud Carroll and Josh Gragg on Guitars, Bruno on Bass, and Josh Knox on Drums show a sound unexplored in the mainstream since Lynyrd Skynyrd rocked the charts with such hits as "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Call Me the Breeze." Although this similarity to classic country rock is one large aspect of American Minor's sound, contemporary similarities show up between bands like Jet and The Shore. Although this album is very short, it IS an EP, meaning that a full-length is expected towards the end of 2005.
Walk On - 5/5
This song kicks the EP off to a rocking start, showing great interplay between the musicians, and great guitarwork from Carroll and Gragg. The vocals have a classic blues-rock sound, adding to this great mix.
Buffalo Creek - 5/5
Slowing down to a great riff showing blues influence and more specifically blues-rock influence from bands like ZZ Top and Bad Company. A subtle cowbell in the background adds to the country sound. The soloing is top-notch, the vocals are top-notch, everything is above expected.
Movin' On Up - 4.5/5
One of the more contemporary sounding tracks, but still using some classic influences. American Minor shows their versatility and ability to rock out on a slower song.
Get On It - 4.5/5
Among the other gems on the Buffalo Creek EP, Movin' On Up seems a bit tired, stealing tricks of the trade from AC/DC and other great rock 'n' roll legends. It's still a great tune, with great guitar licks and loose spirit.
