2.5 average | Iluvatar | April 14th 08 | A terrible disappointment, for the second full length in a row Sinaloa take all the promise they have of reigniting a more traditional emo style's fire and turn it into a tired, monotonous record filled with filler. The attempts at variety hardly work, and unlike previous works the intensity isn't even at a high level anymore. Maybe next time.

0.0 | joshuatree EMERITUS | April 13th 08 | Sinaloa's latest album, Oceans of Islands, is already in contention to be the best punk album of the year, and may be one of the better albums from this first half of the year. Taking 90's emo's somber guitarlines and depressing instrumental work and mixing it with yelping, Thurston Moore-styled vocals, this album isn't anything terribly new or exciting. But it is an enjoyable ride throughout, from the guitar acrobatics of "Seek Harbor" to dark shoegaze of "No Bearing". This is definitely a worthy pickup.
