He's just got no reason to strain his voice that hard that often. A lot of this album is unfocused
and unwarranted. It thinks it's doing more than it really is. Sorry but it takes more than barking
over an acoustic guitar to make people sing along and it takes more than cooing over bells to be
taken as meaningful. In fact, a lot of this album's message is "I go to bars and I sing songs and
hey remember Where the Wild Things Are? and 2009?" well ok thanks

John's vocals can be a bit grating, but the songwriting here is top notch IMO. There's nothing all that groundbreaking here, but its very catchy and well performed. Awesome album.
