Review Summary: Not they're best, but very entertaining.

Now, let me begin by saying that The Dead Milkmen are a very good band, but this is definitely not their best release. Mostly their patented clean guitar, sloppy yet charming bass, and goofy lyrics make this album. But, this isn't anything that they already didn't do on the Big Lizard album.

Their constant distaste and aggression towards pop-culture is shown by their satires of almost every aspect of average life and are naturally, in the Milkmen style, is hilarious. With songs like RC's Mom and Sri Lanka Sex Hotel they just make you giggle a little, and the mediocre pseudo-disco songs often involving horns and odd arrangements are laughable (if they were going for something serious, and sadly, i believe they were).

Another crucial point as to why I didn't rate this album any higher is really because a lot of the lyrics in a lot of the songs are just bad. "I Walk the Thinnest Line," and "Born to Love Volcanoes," are both pretty terrible songs, either not making sense lyrically or just because the music itself is pretty bad.

But as I said before, many of the songs are hilarious. "Stuart," is a ridiculous two and a half minute rambling of an insane man living in a trailer park rambling about what "the queers are doing to the soil." "Punk Rock Girl," is a goofy love story sung by the guitarist involving Mojo Nixon and shouts of anarchy in a pizzeria. But the true gem of the entire album would really have to be the closer, "Life is ***." The first two verses are just about abusing glue to get ***ed up, but the last verse is quite true and quite deep, being about how the best things in life either get cut short or dip out before you're ready.

So overall, the boys from Philly were probably smokin' too many banana peels while making this album, but it's truly a good one. I wouldn't make the same mistake i did in buying it, but definitely download material. Look it up

Bit short (but there's no law against that), a few small errors. Hate to be a dick and point that shit out, but it wouldn't help you if I didn't. Dig these guys. Welcome to Sputnik, keep at it.

One quick note about the following quote:

"...But [the album's] truly a good one. I wouldn't make the same mistake i did in buying it"

It's kind of a contradiction, don't you think? Otherwise, not bad.
