In my opinion, Alicia Keys' newest cd- "As I Am" is a great collection of soulful tunes and thoughtful lyrics. I am a big fan of all of her other records, "Songs In A Minor", "The Diary Of Alicia Keys" and ,"Unplugged". I feel that this album is a great addition to my collection.
I enjoyed the sound of the first song right off the bat. It was energetic and empowering. It's a great way to begin. "Superwoman" also captures the strength and energy of an independent woman. She shows that even though every woman has a different title in life; mother, sister, etc... it's important to keep our heads up high and stand our ground. It's really a feel-good song.
The song I originally heard on the radio: "No One" is one of my favorites. I feel that the energy portrayed through the feeling of love is very evident. She puts alot of soul into her voice, and the beat is very strong. It's a true "Alicia Keys" song.
The video for "Like You'll Never See Me Again" is great. It puts you right into the emotions that you might feel in a situation of possibly losing your loved one... especially right after an argument. The lyrics are very heartfelt and deep.
As a whole, I feel that her new album has a fresh, clean beat that compliment her other albums, but create an entirely new "energy". This is the kind of album you can listen to when you are in a relationship and want to express your happiness through song.
I am a big fan, and I can't wait to see what else she's got up her sleeve!
