Now before I begin, lets just recap Kanes last album, 'Home Sweet Home'. Arguably the greatest grime album ever released, and definitely up there with 'Boy In Da Corner' and 'Ghetto Gospel' as a turning point in Grime. Kano is one of the most consistent grime mc's of all time and has established himself as a pioneer or girme.
For some reason for this album, Kane chose to switch the BPM for this album. Why? I dont know. He is blessed with one of the sickest flows at 140bpm, and it probably was the main reason for him getting signed by 679 all those years ago. Without it, it seems he is just another artist.
The good tracks:
Bad Boy- mainly because of Craig Davids extremely catchy chorus.
Feel Free- a great collabo. Alot more content and shows signs of his former self. Great when he switches Nas' chorus from Made you Look, saying:
Look time's of the essence,
Rhyming's a weapon,
Metal detectors and lines at the entrance,
See I made the news when my gig got pulled,
Same show next year, no violence at all,
But no more at Brixton academies,
But I'd like to see them shut down McD's,
Cos' they shoot' em!,
Nah, made ya look,
You're the slave to the page of the checkbook,
I feel he needs to go back to 140bpm because there are some people, i dont know why, who doubt him. He has so much potential its unreal but to be honest i cant really see him returning to the 'Home Sweet Home' perfection. Funny how a bit of fame and cash can change a person so much. Im disappointed because with many up coming mc's he seems to be fading.
I know he'll be back, because someone of his ability always does comeback. I hope he realizes his mistake of going to the 'rap' flow, now comeback to 140 so we can get more p's and q's classics.
