0.0 | Arche | February 9th 16 | Infusing a mixture of typically lo-fi black metal sounds with a slight tinge of pagan metal in some of the riffs, Maquahuitl's debut LP has some genuinely interesting moments dotted throughout. Opener 'Blood of Kings' proves to be a no-holds-bar entry into the album's energetic yet cold approach, and the more-pagan-than-most Soldado Solares injects a lively, vaguely fun boost. Unfortunately, 'Blood of Kings...' suffers from repetition and lack of dynamic variation, and by the end it's a troubling thought that the same kind of thing has been played 8 times over. Feels like something of a missed opportunity. - http://christfuckerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/blood-of-kings-and-ancestral-might
