I've been listening to this band since 2011 when Dissimulation came out. Since then I have watched
the band progress with each consecutive release. Legacy is exemplary because, in my opinion, it
captures all of the band's best attributes and carries them to a new level. Overall, the band is
much more polished on this release. In their previous work, especially Dissimulation, the mix of
musical styles seemed forced. While Dissimulation will always be one of my favorite albums, Legacy
is finally an album that I can turn on and fully enjoy for more than just nostalgic reasons.
HFTD's progressive sound feels mature and complete in this album. Like all of Hope For The Dying's
work, this album is meant to be enjoyed as one continuous piece of music. Unlike previous releases
though, almost nothing in Legacy feels out of place. From start to finish Legacy is a fast paced
and ingenious ride on par with the likes of Opeth, Amorphis, and Wintersun.
The only disappointing track on the album is the title track. For the most part I loved the song,
especially the ambient instrumental interlude in the middle of the song, but the clean vocals in
the song are sub-par and are a bit of a letdown after 45 minutes of musical excellence and talent.

Another dose of well-done progressive death metal/metalcore. It's basically the same thing they've been doing since the beginning and maybe it's just starting to get a bit old, because I can't really hear any reason to like this less than their last two releases, but I do anyway.
