3.7 great | Voivod STAFF | March 7th 16 | Regarding the disappointing (for the most part) yield of Euro heavy/power metal during the last 5 years (at least!), Trapped in the Shadows forms an oasis of unexpectedly good replay value. The Swedes do not reinvent the wheel in any case; still, the excellent high-pitched choruses, the semi-tech instrumental performance, combined with the discrete groove metal elements (that were abundant in the debut), make for a moderately non-trivial album that's worth its fair lot of spins. Trivia: Udo Dirkschneider lends his trademark vocals on "The Journey". Favourite songs: March of Darkness, Psychopomp.
