3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | March 24th 17 | It's my understanding that if you call yourself a fan of punk in the 2010's and haven't heard a Tenement record, you have some serious listening to do. Tenement is the self-titled EP of the group, and the largest one of its kind in their discography. Though there's only seven songs here, they all give you a good idea with regards to what the band is all about. "Witches In A Ritual" and "Roads Of Home" show the ability to make mid-paced exciting with infectious choruses and lovely backing vocals; "Everyone To Love You" shows how the band can be fast and quite technical, but still very much human and endearing; and "Lonesome Crying Eyes" shows that they can go softer and still achieve similar great results. It's a nice EP, one that is perfect for fans and newcomers alike (though I'd start with The Blind Wink if I were you).
