Review Summary: Overall, "Symptoms Of The Ignition" is an awesome EP, showing that The Desperate Mind has alot of potential and talent. The only bad thing about it is that it has only 3 songs, making the EP only 10 and half minutes long. But I'm still loking forward to t

Before you'll start with reading, you may be wondering, how i found this album.
I'm not a fan of the mainstream punk music, so I was searching on YouTube for some not very known english language punk bands, and I came across The Desperate Mind. I watched some of their live shows, and they seemed pretty good. Then i started searching for some info on the interned, and i've learned that this band has released a debut studio 3 track EP in November. So i gave it a listen. And i was surprised.

The EP starts with a blast - the opening riff of the song "Welcome To Your Nightmare", which is a pure punk song full of anger and screaming just blew me away. It's that typical song that you just want to listen when someone has angered you and you want to... well, flip him off. And don't even get me started with that guitar solo. Well with both of them. They are so energetic, that you just want to jump around and destroy stuff. But that's the point of punkrock music, isn't it?

Then the EP slows for a little bit, with a song called "Rest". Judging by it's lyrics, it's a love song, where the singer is thankful for finding his girlfriend, who saved him from some sort of tragedy (judging by the lyric line "Powered by sorrow and cheap booze, I was searching out for you, for my little savior"). Although a love song and slower than "Welcome To Your Nightmare", this song is no 6 minute long opus. It's 2 and half minute fast song, which came straight from the heart, and somehow it reminds me of Green Day's early work. Reachig track number 3, "Searching For The Hysteria", we're also reaching the end of this EP. This is the only politically-driven song on the EP, but judging by the lyrics, The Desperate Mind knows what's up - the line "They've been born long time ago, when lie was new and not so strong / My mother's crying on the bedroom floor, they took our money and they want more" is just perfect. The intro will get you hooked, that muted/solo interlude will get you pumped for the mosh pit and the ending will make you sad, because the EP is not longer, which is the reason why i gave this only 4 out of 5. The EP ends just when you are ready for more. But according to the band's Facebook page, there's an album in the works.
