Night Birds are undoubtedly one of the better punk bands of the 21st century, and their songwriting ability is no small part in that. Sometimes they'll write an instrumental track, but outside of "Squad Car" and those found on Born To Die In Suburbia, they're somewhat pedestrian. Still, they upped their game in that regard for the all-instrumental Monster Surf, and it's eight minutes of solid, enjoyable instrumental surf punk. Nothing here touches the aforementioned tracks, but they are better than the usual fare, and thus is a pretty decent and fun EP.
