"Age of reason" carries its writing context heavily. As an album put together on the road, there is something to find for everyone. I find myself drawn back to the non-collab tracks here (with the groovy bangers: "Pardon my French", "Expect Us", "you don't understand") which feel a bit less formulaic and more coherent than the rest of the album.rThe production level while still high is not as good as I would have expected from Gramatik. The collabs are lacklusters in many cases. "Get a grip", "Obviously" could be a solid tracks but the absence of variation make me want to move on to the next after 2min. There is frequently a striking difference in the structure of the tracks with collaborators which is surprising as I expect Gramatik remained mainly in charge.rLong story short, "Age of reason" contains some tracks that can make it into a compilation and was probably a ton of fun live (context matters) but won't into posterity as a great album.
